So far it’s excellent, installation was a little slow and TV mounting was a little scary at first due to the size of the TV and the tilt of the mount but everything is looking great now

Unusable! No instructions, wrong hardware, 100% not usable.
Refurbished unit is as new can't tell the difference. Very nice.
I was under the impression that the shell would arrive as a completed assembly, boy was I in for a surprise. Took a lot longer to install than anticipated since I had to build the shell. This was not necessarily hard to build, but very time consuming. It would be helpful to have the installation instructions on the website so customers are aware what they are getting!
I ordered it in case it was needed for the installation and it was not needed.
The Pole and Bracket Ceiling Mount Kit was easy to install and since it is adjustable we were able to make it the perfect height.
Very time consuming to put together! Lots of parts and nit very intuitive. However once it was done, it seems to be exactly what i needed—however the true test will come whenever we get a typical hard rainstorm.
Packaging is subpar at best and did not protect the product so one of the sides of the case is dented.
Adaptor Plate - do not buy this unless you are 100% sure you need it. We had enough support to hang the box without it and now we’re stuck with a $50 plate we don’t need and they won’t allow you to return. The rest of the process has been good. Ridiculous that a company that seems to have a good product doesn’t have a better return policy.
I don’t understand why it doesn’t have predrilled holes for 24 inch studs. It would be so easy to include those holes.
It was bigger than expected but not complaining just should have bought a bigger soundbar. We also bout the 43 inch storm shell for our patio tv. Love all of it! And most of all I love that the company is only 30 miles away from me
First about the box: What surprised me was that the front cover is not on a hinge. You have to take the entire front cover off and hang it under the Storm Shell while you are watching TV. I supposed hinges with it closing in the middle would have been a little large and unwieldy but much handier than my small framed wife trying to manhandle that large front cover. Otherwise I suppose it works well. It is not water proof. The eye holes in the upper corners will definitely be a source of water entering. The fan is on the bottom so won’t be a huge rain concern but it has gaps that will allow bugs and critters to enter.
The installation: It was not bad but there are a LOT of things that need assembled. For that price it seems like some of this items (like the 4 outside latches) could have been assembled at the factory. In addition, I would’ve appreciated higher quality hardware that started much easier. The worst part of installation is the center plate on the front cover. The instructions warn to not over tighten or it will cause dimples. By over tighten they mean don’t go past barely snug. I choked up on the ratchet and essentially just turned the actual socket with my hand. There was barely any resistance and I still ended up with dimples all over the center plate and two studs that snapped completely off. I’m hoping they will sell me a replacement front plate so I can have a do over.
The good parts: They had a clever way way of hanging it on the wall and the tv bracket was engineered very well so hanging both the Storm Shell and the TV were very simple and easy! Also, it is still more cost effective than purchasing a dedicated outdoor TV.
Overall, as I mentioned it is more cost effective than an outdoor TV, the installation overall was not bad and after I seal a couple holes it should do what it’s advertised to do. I have some concerns over how long it will last and how well it will protect the TV and it is really nothing more than a large, thin plastic tote with some engineering to it. I’m still not sure why it cost $600.
Purchased a storm shell made for a 65" tv about 3 years ago we live in the country and this shell gets full sun and gets rained on all spring, summer and fall and the tv never gets wet i take the tv out for the winter but the shell stays up even in -10 to -20 degrees and the shell looks as good as the day I installed it.
We purchased the storm shell and our contractor was going to install the cabinet.
He noticed a missing part. I contacted the company and showed proof of the purchase and within the week the parts were mailed. All is good! We are enjoying having the TV outside and have it protected with the Storm Shell.
Keeps the elements out. However, for the price I would prefer it come in different colors, or at a minimum have an option to come already primed for painting.
Hard to give 3 stars because the product is very high quality, but product is really geared toward a larger TV. I was planning to use it with the 44” dlx case, the arm and bracket and so big it looks obnoxious in a small space.
In the end, the mounting plate fit my existing studs however, the directions in sections were confusing. I'm normally a good DIYer, but I had to go over the directions time after time and had someone else read them as well. Most of the directions had to do with the storm shell itself, I believe only a couple pages were devoted to the plate, the drawings were confusing. I only gave it a 3 star because of the directions.
I own two of these and love them. However the one with the soundbar has one design flaw: the fan needs to be offset because it sits right behind the center of the soundbar. Otherwise excellent. Love these.
My studs are 16" on center - but not centered between the 2 windows where the Storm Shell was placed. Without this adapter mounting plate, my TV would have been 7 inches to one window and 11 inches to the other (which my OCD would have never allowed). Now the Storm Shell/TV are both perfectly centered (9" to each window) - and I couldn't be happier.
Turned out we didn't need it. I think its bad business to not offer a refund on it. Soent 800+ on the shell. $30 on the fan. I think refunding me for the mounting plate is not a big loss on your end.
We are extremely happy with the storm shell. Simple to use, looks clean installed and does what it is supposed to do.
